This painting - yes she has a story!
When I began this creative journey, this piece was not in my mind. It represents how I see myself in this fantasy world. (Yes, a bit embellished…. but you get the message) For many years you would only see me in a fantasy dresses until like 2006 - thats when I discovered Utilikilts. Oh boy, That was just the beginning - sure they sell “Freedom” and for me that is exactly what I needed.
I worked a few shows side by side with Utilikilts - and let me say this - it has been a blast being “One of the boys” Yes, I do have authorization to use their awesome logo.

Description -
Sunrise on the gulf is my little protest to the BP Oil Spill. This painting had to come out so i could move onto my regular painting.
OK this new painting was inspired by the BP Oil spill in the gulf, not the typical inspiration for this fairy. But I couldnt ignore it. This disaster has really upset me to the core of what we are as humans. and... yes the Bio hazard logo - is green and yellow...how appropriate. The imagery is not so subtle the Fairie Characters look sweet, but very sad - man it was sooo upsetting to paint it. every time we turned on the News i saw the images of the oily turtles and it made me cry. Painting this piece freed my creativity so i can move onto an new piece of art. I couldn't do anything until i got this painting out of my system. Like getting the sludge and Nasty oil out from the bottom of the sea. How can our waters live with all that mess, how come they can get away with it? - thats how my brain felt until i put it on into a watercolor painting. This is my little way of protesting British Petroleum and cutting corners with off shore drilling but the real problem is the oil spill it is still out there - my painting really can't fix that - and it makes me sad.

This Painting was inspired by Dianne Lynch - she is a long time friend and seriously my Real Faerie Godmother!
From Dianne Lynch - I have been a fairy godmother for some time and do what I can to bring a little sparkle into people's lives. Since retiring from law enforcement in 2006, I have been volunteering for a local bird rescue organization and help to rescue parrots that have been either neglected, abused, sick, or injured. I attempt to provide them with physical and emotional rehabilitation until a permanent adoptive parent (parront) can be found.
I am a foster parent as well, providing protection and a safe, loving environment in my home for birds that need special medical care, or just need to learn how to trust humans again.
I currently have 4 handicapped birds, an aviary of doves rescued from a recent fire and one big dopey dog rescued from an abusive home. My life is very blessed!
