Lucky Fairy
The above Lady Bug painting is “KoKo Komani Spirit”. She was the inspiration of 2 young ladies I met Spring of 2006. I was at a show doing my normal show thing when … Ariana and Zaryhia came into my Faerie World. The 2 girls talked amongst themselves with their Mom. That’s when I overheard their conversation about my faire haired light eyed whimsical creatures. I asked them what they were looking for and the both spoke up…” We would like Fairies that look like us” Pretty Dark Skin African Fairies. We had a long talk about it and I agreed to give it a try… I explained that I myself a Cherokee, not a light skinned Caucasian would do my best to create an African Fairy.

This piece was quite a challenge and I wanted so much, for her to turn out the way she was in my head. To my surprise this painting turned out even better. My African Fairy was such a joy to paint. This past fall the 2 beautiful girls came back to see me at The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival and were so thrilled to see our creation. Thank YOU so much Zaryhia and Ariana – you helped me create the Fairy painting that I am most proud of.
